Dr. Reuben Rama Aquino

Dr. Reuben Rama Aquino heads the ACES TEAM being the most experienced. He is well known and respected for his anterior segment specialization and corneal transplant expertise. He is also a pioneering small-incision cataract surgeon and his areas of expertise also includes anterior segment reconstruction and refractive surgery. He performed the first PRK and LASIK procedures in Cebu. He took up his premed in USC and obtained his medical degree from the Cebu Institute of Medicine (CIM). He apprenticed at the Cebu EENT Clinic then went on to take the Ophthalmology Basic course in Stanford University preceeding to an Ophthalmology Residency in UP-PGH.

   
   
 

Dr. Victorio Naranjo Cajita

Dr. Victorio Naranjo Cajita, the first retina specialist in Cebu, has joined/headed countless medical missions around the Visayas and Mindanao to bring the gift of sight to hundreds of underpriviledged. A national state scholar of the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman, he then proceeded to the university's College of Medicine and finished in 1981. He completed his Ophthalmology Residency in UP-PGH in 1985 as chief resident and also completed a 2-year Retina Fellowship with Dr. Felipe Tolentino at the Schepens Eye Research Institute of the Harvard Medical School in Boston.

   
   
 

Dr. Teodoro Kintanar Gonzales

Dr. Teodoro Kintanar Gonzales is the region's first glaucoma specialist, making him an in-demand lecturer on this topic. A pioneering graduate of the Cebu City National Science High School, he finished his pre-med Cum Laude in the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman and obtained his medical degree from the same university in 1982. On top of his Ophthalmology Residency in UP-PGH, he also went on a Glaucoma Fellowship under Dr. Richard Simmons at the Schepens Eye Research Institute of Harvard Medical School in Boston.

   
   
 

Dr. Ronald Rellosa Medalle

Dr. Ronald Rellosa Medalle, the son of the venerable Dr. Ptolomeo Medalle, widely recognized as one of the most successful eye surgeons in Cebu, is an Oculoplastic surgeon who shares his father’s easy-going and friendly personality and love for sports. He obtained his medical degree from the Cebu Institute of Medicine (CIM) and is a pioneering graduate of the Residency Program of the Cebu Doctor's Hospital. He took up an Ophthalmology Basic course in Stanford University, proceeding to an Oculoplastic Surgery Fellowship at the St. Francis Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.

   
   
 

Dr. Loren Yap Ong

Dr. Loren Yap Ong is the first Pediatric Ophthalmologist in the region. One of the youngest members of the ACES TEAM, he obtained his medical degree from the Cebu institute of Medicne (CIM) and completed his residency at the Cebu (Velez) General Hospital . He proceeded to a Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (cross-eyed or libat) at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

   
   
 

Dr. Bryan Tan

Dr. Bryan Tan is a member of the ACES Refractive Surgery Team and Performs PRK, LASIK and phacoemulsification. A graduate of the Ophthalmology Residency Program of the Cebu Institute of Medicine (CIM), he proceeded to a 2-year Fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at the Shiley Eye Center at the University of California in San Diego. There. he performed LASIK, LASEK/PRK, and lamellar/full thickness corneal transplants, as well as endothelial transplants and INTACS/Intrastromal Corneal Rings.

   
   
 

Dr. Pamela Tarongoy

Dr. Pamela Tarongoy is from Midsayap, Cotabato and is a product of expert tutelage from the senior ACES partners, having been trained in Cebu (VELEZ) General Hospital's Opthhalmology Residency Program. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in her BS Medical Technology course and proceeded to the Cebu Institute of Medine (CIM), finishing in the Top 8 of her class. For 2 years, she become one of 2 Filipino ophthalmologists for ORBIS International, a non-profit Flying Eye Hospital based in New York. She received a Simmons-Belcher International Glaucoma Fellowship after concluding a year-long Glaucoma Training at the Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston in Massachusettes, USA.
